Wittle Bunnies

I found this fabulous tutorial for repurposing men's wear into fun sewing projects and just had to make these darling bunnies...just in time for Easter.


Instead of using men's wear, I used a pair of pants that I didn't wear anymore. The pastel stripes were absolutely perfect for this adorable trio of bunnies.


I used some of my Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassat fabric scraps for the inside of the ears.


You may be wondering, why make three bunnies? Well, I've begun somewhat of a new tradition for the Mommies in my life. Last year I made one of these for my Mom and decided I needed to make another bunny for her this year, so I made one of these. And since my Mom and my Mother-in-law will both be in town for Easter this year, I thought it would be perfect to make one for each of them. Now you're probably thinking, "Well you explained why you made two bunnies...but why three?"


Well...the third is for a certain little one who will call me Mommy in 7 months. That's right folks, the Hubby and I are going to have a baby! Now, this little one won't be able to enjoy their little bunny until October, but it will be sweetly waiting for our little one's arrival, as are we!

Fresh flowers have to be the best greeting from Spring. They shine so bright and bring happiness to what once was a dreary winter ground. Here are some daffodils that we have in our home that are singing quite a cheery Spring time tune.

Sew & Tell

So this is my first time participating in Sew & Tell and I must say I'm excited! Of course I do have a confession to make...I technically finished these projects this past Saturday, but just got the chance to blog about them...so does that still count for this week's Sew & Tell? I hope so...


I have two very lovely friends (Aimee & Amy) who are both very pregnant and due within a week of each other. To celebrate their new little ones entering the world, a group of us from church had a combined shower for them. It made making the presents much easier b/c I finished them at the same time. I found a darling pattern for a tactile blanket and bib from this fun book.

For the first Aimee (who is expecting a little girl) I used some beautiful Amy Butler Love.

I used a super soft fleece for the back both the bib and the blanket. Mmm...just so cuddly.


The other Amy is expecting a little boy named Drew. She's decorated his nursery in all things monkeys so I knew that this fun monkey fabric would be perfect for a bib.



I machine-appliqued a "D" to his blanket. It's gonna be such a fun blanket to learn with.


I also used some super soft fleece for his bib and blanket. But since he's a boy (and I ran out of the cream) I thought the gray would work the best.


All-in-all these were really fun and easy to make. I think I'll be making more for the other expectant mothers that I know.

A Little Sunshine

Is it Spring Yet?

I must admit, this wintery weather has put me in quite the melancholy mood as of late. The constant cloudy days. The snow-covered ground. It's only magical when it first falls. After that, it just gets plain dreary.


So I ask, "Spring, where are you?" My little heart is frozen in this frigid state of winter. I'm longing for sunshine, budding flowers, green grass, and the smell of fresh air.


In my rebellion against winter, I have not worn socks with my shoes all week. Nope. Not even my thin dress socks. My poor feet need to breathe. They, too, are itching to walk barefoot in the grass. To wear a cute pair of strappy sandals. To be let loose from the dungeon of winter boots.


So Spring, I ask you again..."Where are you? And when will you arrive to this Midwest Arctic?" It's as if we're trapped in Narnia before the Daughters of Eve and Sons of Adam arrived. When the White Witch still held firmly to her grip of the land. Just the other day, I saw that the Pear Blossom Trees are beginning to produce little buds. A sure sign that Spring is quickly approaching and this Indiana town won't be locked in the White Witch's grip much longer.


For now, I suppose, as I wait for the warm weather to finally arrive, I will gaze upon flowers that conjure the memory of Spring and remind me of what that joyous season of growth holds.
