The Warmth of Snow: A Winter Time Poem

It's cold outside. It's true.
The wind makes it feel only about two.

There are drifts up to the door,
And snow boots on the floor.

More than a dusting we've received,
Just as the forecasters believed.
But while there's a chill outside.
In the warmth is where we'll hide.

Because you see,
When you're as little as he,
Inside is where you'd want to be.

Where naps are many and cuddles aren't few,
On wintery days,
This is what we like to do.

Around the House Saturdays: Christmas Trimmings 2010

Wow! It's been a while since I've written one of these posts. Please forgive me as I've been pretty busy tending to our new Little Man.

Well, it is December, which means lots of Christmas decor to add that bit of festive cheer to your home. The Hubby and I were so excited to decorate our home for Christmas this year, especially since it's our first Christmas in our new home and our first Christmas with Little Man.

As always, we got our yearly Christmas ornaments...and even Little Man got his very own.
From left to right: Dustin's (Crate & Barrel); Mine (Anthropologie); Ethan's (Target)

A grand view of the entire tree. I think it gets prettier and prettier every year (but I'm a little biased).

Making their 2010 Christmas Season debut, the Santa Band Trio.

Even everyday kitchen utensils get to be festive.

The three wise men are beginning their star following journey.

How about a little bit of sweet peppermint to stir in your hot chocolate?

And every cake stand must come equipped with colorful Christmas ornaments.

And of course, my collection of vintage decor is scattered throughout, bringing smiles all around.

What are some of your favorite Christmas decorations?

Such a Cool Kid

I know a lot of my posts as of late have not had a lot of words, but I mean, when you're showing off such a cutie, who needs words? I think the pictures say it all. Can you tell we're enjoying every second with our Little Man?

So Very Thankful

Thanksgiving was so very special for us this year. It was the first Thanksgiving we've been home to Virginia in 5 years...basically the first time we've been home with family for this special holiday as a couple. And if that wasn't special enough, we had Little Man with us to enjoy the festivities, which meant meeting lots and lots of family.

The morning of Thanksgiving started with Monkey Bread and coffee...

Parade watching with Daddy...

And of course a morning nap because even the cutest turkeys get tired.

There was a lot of time spent in the kitchen prepping all of the yummy food.

Looks like Daddy got confused of who the real turkey was. He is, after all, cute enough to eat!

And lots and lots of time for cuddles and lovin'.

But then, who could resist cuddling and kissing this sweet face?

After stuffing ourselves with the yummy-ness that is Thanksgiving dinner, there was the "great meeting" or as Dustin's dad said, a time for Little Man to be passed around more than the mashed potatoes around the table. So for 4 days, Little Man got to meet many of our family members (and this isn't even all of them!)

Meeting Pop-Pop (Dustin's Dad)

There were aunts to meet...Great Aunt Sally (or Sasa as we call her).

Great Aunt Betty Sue.

Uncles to meet...Great Uncle Jeff

...and Great Uncle Wayne.

Cousin's to meet...Ashley...

...And Chloe.
And of course, his one great-grandparent...Nanny.

Even Amos (my parents' dog) wanted to meet him.

We're beyond thankful for the amazing time that it was and our hearts are so full with the love that was poured out on our Little Man. Can't wait to til his first Christmas when he gets to spend it with Grandmama & Grandiddy, Uncle Nick, and Ga-maw & Pop-Pop.
