While the weather is cold, snowy and just plain blah almost every where, I thought it would be fitting to have a give-away.


And what's a perfect give-away item for this last week of chilly February? How about a colorful scarf to brighten up those wintery blue days!


This cozy scarf is made of Paula Prass's Flights of Fancy and some oh-so-dreamy fleece for the under side. A couple of months ago, while playing in my studio, I made another one with some Amy Butler Love and thought, I must make one of these for a give-away. So here it is...waiting to warm one lucky reader's neck.

The scarf is soft and cozy enough to keep you warm for these remaining days of winter, but it's also great for those early spring mornings when the air is still crisp and cool.

Timber

Went to Clementine's this weekend and discovered some new fabric that had graced her shelves' presence. *Sigh*


Here's what I added to my stash. It's actually for my quilt for A Notion or Two. My month isn't until August, but I just had to get this. The colors are exactly what I was looking for! It's like Cami read my mind when she added these to the shop.


The stack is a combination of Timber by Jessica Levitt and some Nicey Jane by Heather Bailey. I'm going for something with a beach-like color scheme and this combo is absolutely perfect. As you can see here, even my Hubby was excited about these fabrics. Not gonna lie, I love it when he goes fabric shopping with me because he really does have great taste.

Wanna see something beautiful that will definitely pull at your heart strings? Our friend David, has a huge heart for showing God's love to orphans in Russia. He currently works for The Boaz Project, which is a ministry whose sole purpose is to help the orphans of Russia and India find the refuge that God offers by partnering with Christians around the world to provide for their basic needs, such as clothing and education. Their programs help children of all ages, from holding and bathing newborns to teaching older orphans the skills necessary for employment.
Well just recently, David opened an Etsy Shop devoted to raising money for this amazing ministry. In his shop, he's selling original photographs of the beautiful sites of the Russia. My favorite is the Matryoshka Doll photo series. Ah! Love it.


He's also taken many of his photos and created these fabulous photo note cards. Each pack contains 10 blank cards with envelopes.


If you would like to show love to the beautiful children of Russia and India, I highly encourage you to visit David's shop. More from the world of Chief, our fabulous little Pug. The other night the Hubby and I fixed Belgian waffles and bacon for dinner. Mmm...mmm was it good. After we were finished eating, we had a few small pieces of bacon that we knew our dogs would enjoy, so we shared it with them. Little did we know that this event would occur...

I kid you not, we watched this video like 5 more times after it happened and each time we laughed harder and harder.

An American Tradition

It's February 14th and love is in the air. But so is burnt rubber, Sunoco fuel, and the Rrrring of forty-three 750 horsepower engines. So not only is it Valentine's Day; it's also the day of the Great American Race, the Super Bowl of NASCAR, THE DAYTONA 500.

I know what you're thinking. For real Sarah? An artsy, crafty girl like yourself loves NASCAR? Yep. That's right. I was raised a race fan. You could say that it runs through my blood. I'm a part of the huge American Family that loves its NASCAR.

We love the track.

We love buying souvenirs.

We love our drivers.

We love seeing that green flag wave.

We love 12.5 second pit stops.

We love the wrecks.

We love the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

We love celebrating with our favorite drivers.

We love burn-outs.

And we love our country.

So while many people exchange boxes of chocolates and roses, my Hubby and I are spending a romantic afternoon relaxed on the couch, eating home-made fried chicken and waiting for those 4 beautiful words in motor sports:

"GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES!"

Around the House Saturdays: Cake Stands

I love cake stands. I love how they can contain delectable sweets or little trinkets or even just stand alone to show off they're beautiful hand-cut glass.


Around Christmas, the Hubby and I began looking for the perfect cake stand. We were so excited when we found this one from Williams-Sonoma. And then, not too long after we bought it, our lovely friend Debbie gave us one of her many cake stands. So now we have two and I think I might be hooked on collecting cake stands. Each one has it's own personality and creative touch.
