Bloggers Quilt Festival

Amy over at Park City Girl is sponsoring an online Quilt festival so I thought I'd join in on the fun.

This was my very first quilt. I used Amy Butler's Brickpath pattern. The individual blocks were pieced by hand and once each row was pieced, I used the machine to put it all together. The most time consuming part was hand-quilting it, but since it was my first quilt, it gave me a lot of stitching practice, especially since I hadn't done any sewing since I was a little girl. I absolutely love how colorful it is and love cuddling with it - so does my Hubby!

More Cute Clothes

Here's another lovely garment from Anthropologie.
I absolutely love this top. It's so neat how it looks like a shawl, but it's not.
And it's super soft and cute for every season.

And again I'm wearing that beautiful broach that I found at the antique store.
It just looks beautiful with everything!

There was more Birthday celebrating going on yesterday while my parents were in town. We went to the most beautiful store in the world, where I found this delightful and dainty tea cup and this cute plaid shirt. (The broach is an antique find.)I found several other clothing items that I plan on posting as I wear them during the next couple of days.

New Addition

We have a new addition to the family.
No - not a baby (yet). That will be in the works in the next couple of months...
Hmm...Was that too graphic for Blogger? I hope not! Haha!

But anyway...
The new addition is our new dog Chief. Some friends of ours from Virginia had to move and couldn't afford to keep their 8 year old pug, so while my parents came up this weekend, they brought good ol' Chief with them.

Isn't he just adorable? That little face is hysterical. And when he breathes/snores/growls he sounds like a little pig. It's hilarious! He's definitely quite a wacky addition to this family, but we are loving it...and so are all of the other animals.

Feeding My Addiction

My wonderful parents are in town this weekend and today we paid a visit to the one and only Clementine's. While we were there, I captured a moment that I just have to share...

That's right. That is my wonderful Hubby helping me pick out some goodies for my stash. *Sigh* He is quite the charmer. I just love him! And I must say thank you Mumma and Diddy for a wonderful afternoon and the delightful presents!

Around the House Saturdays

I love using different types of dishes and plates to display different objects. I have an antique piece of Wedgewood that belonged to my Great Aunt and a saucer that I use to arrange my rings and earrings. I prefer not to use a jewelry box because if the jewelry is out of sight, it's out of mind. This way I can always see what I have and can accessorize appropriately. And the great thing about these plates is you don't have to go out and buy a bunch. Just look around in your cupboards and choose some fun pieces that never get used. Not only will you enjoy seeing all of your jewelry, but you'll also be able to see that quirky little plate you picked up for 25 cents at a garage sale.

Happy Saturday Friends!

Story Time

Whew! What a week! I apologize for the lack of posts. School started back up this week and I started my new job so I've been one busy little bee. I'm really liking my classes so far and my job is wonderful. I'm just loving the creative environment!

But in other news...
Hubby and I went to a used book store this past weekend and look at the treasure that I found.

It's a 1928 Edition of the classic story Bambi. I was so excited to get this book for only $4. I've never actually read the story (only seen Disney's version) so I'm excited to read the lovely worn pages and dive deep into the forest with Bambi and his friends.

P.S. Update on the Etsy Store Adventure. After all of your wonderful and encouraging feedback, I have officially decided to open up an Etsy store. I plan on getting it up and running in the next 2 to 3 weeks. I will definitely let everyone know when it is officially up so you can take a peak at the delightful things that I have for your purchasing pleasure. I'm really excited to step into this little journey and share my fun projects with the world! Thanks again for the encouragement. It means so much to me!

Grocery Tote

The Hubby and I are trying to eliminate how many plastic bags we bring into the house (and eventually the trash) so we've recently become obsessed with "Green Bags." Just today he brought home three that he got from Sam's Club & Wal-Mart. Well, I thought it would be fun to make my own so I found a great pattern in this book and using Amy Butler's August Fields Home Interior fabric, I made a large tote that's sure to hold many groceries.

Around the House Saturdays

I'm starting this new weekly post that I'm titling, "Around the House Saturdays."

What are these posts going to be about, you ask?

Well, I thought it would be fun to post home decor ideas on a weekly basis to help inspire those in blog world who need some help finding easy and affordable ways to decorate their homes. And since Saturdays are usually days when many people are cleaning, reorganizing, etc, I thought it would be the perfect day to post these ideas. So every Saturday, I will post an idea from my home or from the homes of others in blog world that can be used to inspire you to add those little touches to your homes. Enjoy!

Empty Picture Frames
I'm a sucker for empty picture frames. And while scavenging at garage sales, I've come across many a picture frame for under 25 cents. One fun thing to do with empty, discarded picture frames is to paint them all one color and hang them up on a boldly colored wall. It creates a type of abstract installation that adds character to bare walls.

You can also place them on shelves to add texture and shape.

*Sigh*
It's beauty like this that just makes my heart happy.
God really knew what He was doing when He created the world.
